I don't think that is RNZAF Skyhawks in that photo. it is very similar but i don't believe it is them. We have discussed that photo in Hotshots before on here, and that was the general conclusion.

Somehow I missed this thread the first time around, but I have to say that those models made by Kiwiduster are fantastic. The other thing that is great about this is that he said he hadn't made any models for years, but was inspired to get back into it by a series of posts made on here about the assembly of a 'squadron' of Skyhawk kits by Mumbles. Great work everyone. As to the Hotshots poster - last time I watched the movie, I paused that particular scene at several points, and the poster is of a flight of USN aggressor Skyhawks. They had me fooled though, as for years I too thought they were Kiwi Skyhawks.

I was first put on to the Hotshots scene when I was a DOD contractor in the US and happened to bump into a fellow kiwi working on hornets, he said that the navy were somewhat upset about the making of this movie and had ruled that nothing that appeared to be authentic navy could show in the movie, I was told that all aircraft images etc were non usn and that there was a nz photo there but I guess images of aggressor aircraft could be seen as non usn. Cheers.

I recall noticing it instantly whilst watching it the first time when i was in the cinema. It always had me wondering till I saw a discussion on the photo and it was established as aggressor aircraft. It's funny how they are all T-birds and the differing colours and the angles are much the same.
I also like his other picture of the tarmac, which he thinks is a window and he's trying to yell down to Roy. ;D One of the funniest characters ever, Lloyd Bridges was wonderful.
