Well that link pretty much sums it up, if you have any specific questions just aske me (I'm a current serving armourer at Ohakea).
If you click the link to the .pdf file at the bottom of that page you'll even see a photo of me (well a very small one) I'm the guy in the blue uniform reading a piece of paper next to the Maverick.
Funny story about that photo - It was taken at DJ2 time (when the RNZAF made quite a few of us redundant) to illustrate an article about the whole process. The piece of paper I am reading is actually a release letter telling me I'm no longer an armourer (I remustered to photographer).
And Ttey used it as a recruiting image!
Perhaps I'm the only one to see the irony in that.

Phil, did you once run the "RNZAF Gunnies" website?

Thats right I did, but after I remustered to Photog it kind of died out a bit so I handed it all over to another guy. It is still running, although in a greatly modified way.
Back as an armourer now though.

Well, you very kindly sent me a couple of copies of the history of the RNZAF Air Combat Wing a few years ago, and I still owe you a beer or two for that! ;D

To be an Armourer in her majesty's service, you have have to be an average guy willing to do a hero's job.

we reckoned that Canberra armorers had to be hung like a stud horse, with the speed of a race horse, the strength of a draught horse, ...and the brains of a rocking horse

If it weren't for Armourers the rest of you would just be members of a big flying club!
