Well I have just had an awesome week in Queenstown. Check out these Plane spotting equipment This believe it or not was taken last friday Jan 27th snow in mid summer nice. Pic taken from the crown range road at around 3,500 feet. Jetstar on descent into Queenstown. Lucky cloud layer keeping the approach low in the valley. Darren looking out the window probably a bit better perspective. Taken from the same level as the previous pic. Queenstown down below. On Sunday there were 5 jets on the ground at same time. Sure is a busy place now. Yeah heaps of power

Great pics! Thank you :-) I remember being at the exact same spot on the Crown Range Rd where you took the pics of the A320, the week of Warbirds over Wanaka 1996(?) when the Grumman Mallard was visiting. It flew right past us going the other way with a backdrop of snow too. Thing is the battery in my camera chose that moment to die. Once in a life-time chance...

I was shocked to see poor old COW in that scrapyard. Made me want to rush down there and save it. My favorite aeroplane. Learned to fly in Victa Airtourers in the sixties.

I was shocked to see poor old COW in that scrapyard. Made me want to rush down there and save it. My favorite aeroplane. Learned to fly in Victa Airtourers in the sixties. Its at the back of a hangar at the new national toy and transport museum in Wanaka. Not sure what they intend to do with it. All the hangars are packed with cars, trucks, fire engines and many other bits and pieces so no room for ZK-COW. Its a fantastic place to poke and prod your way around. Very hard to take pics of aircraft as there are cars everywhere. They intend building a large complex to house the collection but my guess is that is a long way off. Its well worth a visit.
