Obviously price will always be a key point in any transaction - but for a fighter program you usually need need to also consider the long-term viability of the program, usually dictated by the primary user - in this case, France.

Yep but I read that Indian purchases are difficult and the contract is not yet signed and sealed. All that has happened is that India has said that Dassult is its prefered bidder at the moment. The Indians have a stipulation of 50% local input and they want the transfer of technology. There was no way they were going to get that withthe F15 or F18, so thats why the US companies lost out. Talking about that I wonder what the technology is present in the P8(I)s that they have already received from Boeing.

Whats staggering is the amount of money spemt here when there is so much abject poverty in this country. 'Theres still people sponsoring charities there, and people living in appalling conditions when theyre spending this sort of money on new toys? Dont get me wrong, I love jet noise as much as most here, but when I see beggars in the streets and kids having a really crappy life then surely they could spend a bit on them???

Yes and our glorious leader has decided that we are having a free trade deal with them. Actually considering the harm Uncle helen did it had the right idea of organising a free trade deal with China. I think that the Indian free trade del and the Russian that is being signed at the next APEC meeting are going to see us through all this financial trouble. Our glorious leader also promised the Indians that tje RNZN would go help them with the pirate problem if they wanted us too. The Russian free trade deal was agreed to by our glorious leader and Medvedev the Russian president at the last APEC on a handshake and then they told the bureaucrats to make it happen. Wonder if we could get a wholo lotta cheap ZSU 23 - 4s for the Army. They gonna ruin any enemy flyboys day. Maybe ZSU 30 - 2s as well. Ah well dreams are free. I have always thought that NZ AAA is pissing in the wind. We aint got none ashore, except for M2 .50 cal that the Army might have set up.

Every effort born there is either a Rocket Scientist or a Brain Surgeon although recently the job market seems to have expanded to include Financial Advisor.
