I have been there so many times I have lost count but I always love seeing photos form there, it's one of my most favourite places!
Really nice photos Beags. Thanks for posting them. The P-40 looks great.

I noticed quite a bit of dust in the upper surfaces of everything. But i suposse that was dust shaken down by the many wee jolts we have been having here. Saw the damage to the vampire in the first hall but forgot to get a photo of it when we came back from the other tour. They were saying, once the new addition is up and once it was finished being used as a convention centre for the city then all the other aircraft would move into there and that hangar would become a big storage building with items currently stored elsewhere around the country. Was sad to see the PBY still sitting there in the same condition as it left Auckland many years ago but I suposse time, money and manpower , it's just a few projects at a time.

Nice photos Beags you are getting the hang of that camera. Seeing that photo of Devon NZ1803 reminds me: weren't they getting another Devon from Woodborne due to 03 having corrosion in the wings? Seeing as the Devons got auctioned i would be interested as to the outcome. Or have they decided to repair the wings instead?

I think spare room at the moment is a problem as part of that hangar has big boxes of itemsfrom other places around CHCH such as a musuem from Lyttleton.

I worked on 6254 during my time at 75 SQN and AMS. Can anyone tell me if 6373 was one of the first group of Strikemasters. If it was I worked on it also on 14 and AMS.

NZ6373 was in the second batch and was delivered to the RNZAF in April 1975.

Thanks for the photos, updates are always good. Thinking about big storage boxes, does anyone know what sort of prizes are in the storage hangar at Weedons ? I was told that it held all sorts of treasure.

Any idea on when they hope to have the P40 and Oxford finished? I wonder if they will get Pioneer or one of the other restoration houses to help. I have often thought with a big item like the PBY, perhaps they could get RNZAF trainees working on them? Just a thought

At least a Canberra fuselage and some Mossie bits. The Canberra fuselage is stored in No 3 Hangar at Wigram. The wings, fin and horistab are outside (they are stuffed).

I hope that's right. Great stuff if it is true. The team are doing a stunning restoration on it. It's neat that we will soon have two complete Oxfords in NZ when there used to be none.
