With (at least) five aviation events on this weekend around NZ, it figures... Looks like it should blow through on Saturday, leaving Sunday ok?

My daughters getting married at the Riccarton race course tomorrow arvo so hope it doesn't rain. We not supposed to get it here, but will go check the various met sites and look at upper air data and surface charts.

Should ease off tonight. I was in Rotorua for a bit last night. A Dash 8 (Q300 if you like) didn't depart to Wellington due to an 'engineering issue' and then the last 1900 flight into RO got canned so the part couldn't be transported in time. The passengers and bags were on board, you could feel the disappointment by the expressions on their faces as they disembarked. Then they get told that alternative flights tomorrow would be available, but there was doubt due to the weather bomb. Poor souls. I hope they did get to where they wanted to be, being Friday and everything.

It's been a bit windy. I was listening to the wind through the night, oddly there were times when it went dead calm and then after a while it blew up again. It's still really gusty here right now, no rain though now. Stupid storm put the power out at 3am.

It didn't seem too bad here in One Tree Hill, although I did find one medium-sized tree half-blocking a side street while out walking the dog (successfully finding a gap in the squalls).

Great photos... Nothing quite like landing in Welly in a storm!! I swear we've been below the height of some of the waves sometimes!!

Nice shots from WLG. The severe turbulence forecast at alitude did not really happen. Bumpy leaving AKL (where it's blowing a gale still) but not crazy bumpy. Was quite bumpy into ZQN though...
