Looks like the big C might have finally caught up with him. Some tributes starting to come a little prematurely, but he did do a hell of alot for NZ rugby, and his heart was in the job. Bless.

A very good and honourable man. Jonesy it's nice that's he may be able to hear the tributes. I hope that this is just a relapse but if it isn't then pray that the end is quick.

I saw his death the other day though I'd never heard of him before. I wondered if he was related to another Gisborne legend, Trevor "Tiny" White?

No relation as far as I know.
Richard White was the Mayor of Gisborne when I moved there in March 1978.

Wasn't Trevor White also once a Mayor of the city? Or maybe whoever told me that may have been mixed up with the other Tiny White I suppose. Trevor of course was one of the guys who started East Coast Airways and made the place a lot less remote to the rest of the world.
