Hi all
A year or so ago I was supplied an incorrect item in a TradeMe purchase but after a quick look soon decided to keep it!
It was about New Zealand girls (mostly unheard of) who had achieved notable feats of aviation. I can recall two chapters - one about a lady of the well-known Barton family from Featherston who from memory travelled to the UK to learn to fly back about the 1920s. The other was about a Gisborne girl who was living in Australia when she learnt, and ended up flying the Tasman both ways in a Cessna 182 while on a PPL.
As usual, I've loaned the book to someone and can't remember who, and want to replace it but can't remember the title.
Can anyone assist please?
Cheers

Nope, but thanks Corsair.
Interesting though, my "Silver Wings" is a 1989 edition with a near-identical cover design but no mention of Pam - mine's by a lady by the name of Shirley Laine..........
I do note in an appendix that the Miss M A Barton to whom I refer is listed as having received her licence at The Wairarapa Aero Club and I recall now that there were anecdotes about her flying at Martinborough.

I am not sure of this book either - and I know a lot about NZ aviation books.
There is a book about Aline Barton called Wanderlust by Peter Maling of Christchurch - But I don't think this is the book you are after as it is only about her - Book number 165 in my NZ aviation bibliography.
When you do find the book please publish the name and author on this site as we would be keen to know.

Thanks folks.
FJ180, I couldn't revert to my "Won" list as it was incorrectly supplied to me by the seller, but you did put me on the right track and I dredged through emails until I sorted it out.
Did I say I hadn't read it thoroughly? Well, I hadn't - if I had, I would have described it better! It's not only girls, although there are a fair few.
The book is "Journeying With Aviators in New Zealand" by Roy Sinclair and published in 1998.
Thanks again folks
