I was given this book for Xmas, Wingspread, published in 1941 and written by one of the greats of NZ aviation photography, Leo White. It covers the history of aviation in New Zealand up to and including the very early part of World War 2.
I've only just started to read it, and while light and breezy in style, it is proving to be a fascinating look at aviation from a perspective of only 40 years after the first stirrings of interest in flight in this country.
Comes with photos, of course, I imagine most are familiar to those interested, as apparently largely sourced from the Weekly News and Auckland Star. The last plate is a very nice A2A shot of 3 RNZAF Hudsons!
Will come back with an update when I make it up to October 1941!
Cheers, Chris

Yes it's a great book. Leo was also a fine writer and historian as well as photographer.
