Well, thats what it felt last night / this morning. Just got back from spending the past 18 hours at CHCH hostipal. Was about to climb into bed last night after the mrs yelling at me to get off the forum when I doubled over in pain. Thought it was temporary but it kept getting worse and worse. Jumped back online to check medical pages and thought I might have ruptured my spleen or similar, so called an ambulance.
Oh yes keep pumping that morphine into me.
anyone guess what happened to me.

Jesus mate, if it was a ruptured spleen id say mrs beagle was doing more than yelling at you.
Im guessing appendix or really bad indigestion.

I'm assuming you're home again now Beags so it can't have been a long-stay issue, I hope.

I,ve seen a couple of people with this ( including my Dad , that resulted in a mad dash to the hospital ) . It sounds like a minor problem when you hear about it , but those people that had it turely felt like they could die , and tye pain hits suddenly , with almost no warning . Fortunatly the recovery was pretty quick too , hope that is also the case with you .

Go Beagle! Thats god punishing you for all those years of boozing in the force ;D But seriously kidney stones ARE THE MOST PAINFUL medical issue a person can have, I know because I've had them. It was the size of my thumb end and lodged in the uretha tube and the first indications I had was pissing blood. I had it operated on and they went up the in hole to smash it then spent 2 weeks with a twisted stent in my bladder to agrivate the passing of the fragments when I pee'd, and my wife would come home asking the kids if I was better and they replied " yeah I think so he's not saying f-- everytime he goes to the toilet now". The stent came out in a similar fashion but luckily I was awake for this episode with wife and nurse watching! By the way any female readers of this thinking child birth is worse nah wrong - I've spoken to women who have had both and kidney stones was a definite yes! I hope you man up and get it removed soon Beags because if it decides to move out itself you WILL be rolling around the floor blubbing for your mother .. believe me. I did pee out another one some months later all by myself but I can't use the adjectives to talk about that adventure- however being a good crewdog I scooped it out of the toilet, measured it at 7mm and took it to work for show and tell. Drink water and massive amounts of it because it really helps remove all the small crystals that grow to stones.

Do they use ultrasound on them to break them up? Thought I saw that somewhere...

Sympathy's Beagle. I had a 6mm stone back in January, Spent 4 days in Auckland Hospital, had Morphine (that was cool) ;D, CT scan, 4 separate female doctors/nurses check my nuts out in case they were twisted (that was cooler) , stent inserted as stone was blocking the urethra. Eventually had lithiotripsy to shatter stone and then later had stent removed. At this stage the Dr (female again) told me that I had another stone, 3mm, in my other kidney. Nothing they could do about it till it starts to move down the urethra, then I will now about it .
