Hi guys, we just umpacked the old man's medals over the weekend, but seem to have misplaced the bit of paper explaining which ones they are Now the DFC on the left is fine, no worries with that one, but I'm guessing the ones in the middle are what he had previously described as "for turning up on time"or similar! Any clues there? Would be appreciated. Cheers!

Now this one (on the right) is the rogue one thats got us a bit stumped; I've had a look on the net and it äppears to be a Polish decoration (has RP in the centre of it) but am unsure why he got it. He did spend some time training Eastern European pilots in Tiger Moths before his posting onto Mossies, but how you'd teach someone with at best a limited grasp of English how to fly is beyond me!

Nah, I think its more a bronze-type colour from memory. The flash of the camera thru the glass has distorted it a bit.

Thanks, les. Thats filled the gaps. Sounds like they were the generic "thanks for turning up"ones! Interested to know why he's ended up with that Polish thing. I'm sure he'd kept the paperwork for it somewhere.... I have been just told that he was instructed not to wear it with his other medals as Poland was a communist country after the war.

In WW2 the Polish Government was in exile in England,he was probably training Polish pilots in the RAF.
