Thats where our new A400's would come into play. But 10 years away is too far. what about if the wing could be removed and put in a cradle or something and get it and the fuselage to Ohakea around September when the next AN124 brings the 3rd batch of NH-90s over and throw it inside that, as I am sure they are leaving empty.

What about a RAAF C17 that may wander over this way now and again? I thought of a USAF C17 because one is here at the moment doing Deep Freeze, but I'd presume it'd head straight to Hawaii so Aussie be out of it's way. Anyway I reckon one of the Deep Freeze C17s will be heading home with a mossie in its belly at some stage. ;D
EDIT: Does 4TTS still operate at WB? If that is the case, couldn't it be done there as a project for the trainees? Part of their training.

The Catalina Preservation Society will give a formal announcement regarding the launch of a refurbishment program and fundraising campaign in due course.
The website is currently being rebuilt offline, once on-line you will be able to make donations to the refurbishment program.
We have all manner of suggestions here, however all of your statements so far are unqualified and are conjectural. So please don't come to your own unsubstantiated conclusions.
We will of course welcome your donations once the site is up and running.
Any work undertaken has to be approved in the appropriate manner with CAA, HARS does not have the appropriate licencing for.
Besides there appears to be rumours of a "meltdown" taking place within HARS.

Let us know how the repairs are getting on. If you can substantiate the The New Zealand Catalina Preservation Societies intentions on the getting the Catalina airworthy ,it will reduce the unsubstantiated inclusions.Recent speaches given by HARS members at the Forum Meet held on 30th September in Auckland made no mention of difficulties at the Austalian group.

We are having our AGM in the next couple of weeks in New Plymouth, we hope to get something in terms of a program launch then. You must realise that the organisation's first order of duties are to inform original financial members (who actually purchased the aircraft).
With regards to HARs, we know members of that organisation within our group, some of the exchanges that have gone on behind the scenes are 'not inspirational'.

Can we please keep any slurs against the HARS group and discussion of alleged situations within that group off this forum.
As stated elsewhere on this forum the situation there has nothing to do with us as a forum and we don't want to be dragged into any disputes by members who feel they have to voice an opinion. I have been informed that there are legal proceedings afoot regarding the allegations made publicly in a magazine column, and we do not want to end up a part of that, thanks.
I might also add that there are undoubtedly HARS members who are members reading here, just as there are members of the NZ Catalina group here too - what you write is being read around the world - no matter what the topic - so when discussing any individual or group out there please do so with respect - or take it elsewhere.

Don't worry the group is still around! We are having technical problems with the website, hope to have it back up shortly. I cant go into details at this stage, however we have had some $ pledges from our membership that should at least enable some work to commence on the aircraft in the not too distant future. The aircraft should find its way into Brett Emeny's hangar so that at least some of the aircraft can be worked on under cover. We are still in the campaigning stage to try and sort out how we can attain significant financial backing so that the aircraft can continue to operate into the future.

There's an update in the Classic Fighters episode of the Wings Over New Zealand Show, but from memory they are working to get her flying in less than four years.

Well that's encouraging, given originally there was some doubt it would ever be able to fly again.

Catalina Progress... Just a note to say that we have got ZK-PBY (most of her at any rate) into Brett Emeny's hangar in New Plymouth to get her out of the elements so that we can work on her. The group has raised some funds to start work on the aircraft, and are applying for further funding to assist. The new website shall be launched shortly

Looking good..glad to see she's under cover now...well..as you said..."most of her" Ditto raymonds questions... And if you're still working on the website, putting in a donation button would be worth looking at...Paypal or some internet banking details..more folks will contribute if you make it easy..
