As many folks will know there is on-going demolition work in the Christchurch CBD 'Red Zone' of many earthquake damaged buildings. One of these is the Crowne Plaza (formerly Parkroyal) Hotel on the corner of Kilmore and Durham Streets. Blimey, I remember when the P fell off that hotel and it was the Ark Royal for a while. Now the Ark Royal has been scuttled.

Not really sad to see that building gone, and I hope they actually put something nice in its place!
Does anyone know if the AMP Bldg in Cathedral Sq is going as well? I haven't heard or seen any mention of it at all, and I am hoping that it will go. It hasn't been maintained very well for years and looks really shabby, and the clock and thermometer on the roof have been out of action for at least 15 years.
