My Dad, Ossie Hawkins flew this aircraft on either 19 or 26 squadron, I have a pic of him as a 20 year old, standing in front of it, armed with a single 500 or 1000 pounder on the centreline rack. I can scan and send it if you are interested.

Lovely Corsair dewobz, it looks very war worn and faded. rhawk3333, I'm sure we would all like to see your scan, maybe add it to the Corsair Pile thread.

I've attached here - or tried to - the pdf file sent to me by rhawk3333 which shows both sides of the original photo of his father, Ossie Hawkins, standing in front of NZ5315 at Bougainville before a strike. There's a nice note on the back. In my computer ignorance all I have been able to do with the photo is first rotate it and second copy it to word.doc A4 size. Others may have different ways of processing it. According to Richard this is one of several or many unofficial photos and he will attempt to find ways to upload them. Richard will contact site admin about this. Hope this wets your appetites? Cheers, Wally. Attachments:

Thanks baronbeeza & suthg for putting those up properly. I won't ask how you did it as the explanation will probly be too complicated for me anyhow. It's great to see photos like this of aircraft I have made or will make models of. I'll leave it to Richard to work out future postings of his photos. Cheers, Wally.

Here are two more photos from Richard Hawkins' collection: NZ5406 in flight Ossie Hawkins in front of a Corsair before a mission. The white squadron on the wheel door is interesting.

An interesting thread, Wally, I reckon you got that weathering & finish pretty much spot on, really nice & great to have the connection with the real machine. Steve.

Thanks Steve. The model maybe just needs that little bit of white gas masking tape forward of the cockpit. I might add that to it. Cheers,

What a shocking model - send it over to me and I will destroy it for you so you don't have to look at it anymore! Beautiful work.
