My latest attempt using the Revell of Germany boxing of the Ventura. The markings are from Zotz though I replace the heavily faded top wing roundel as it appears far too light to my eyes. I am aware that no Dark Blue outline appeared on the wing roundel of NZ4540, I became aware after it became impossible to move! Kit out of the box, with the co-pilots position removed, Vector propellors and Ultracast wheels Thanks for looking

Very cool, a clean and unweathered PV-1. Nice work!
I'm so pleased to see this kitset is being built by so many people around the world and so often in RNZAF markings.

Good one! The Zotz roundels don't look as dark on the model as they do on the sheet (I'm glad to see) and I agree about the upper wing one being too light. Have you got Classic Warbird's 'Pacific Twins'? The photo of NZ4540[43] crashed that shows the upper wing roundel has considerable glare on it and to my eye it could conceivably have borders. There may, of course, be other photos which confirm no borders and my perception of the photo is purely personal. I love the look of your tyres. I assume closing the bomb bay went okay? And are you still going to build NZ4516 'Patua te Ra'?

At the time of the accident NZ4540 did not have the borders on the top wing roundel bars, though it did on the bottom of the wing of course, and the top wing roundel was indeed a lot more worn than the fuselage roundels. But at the time of he crash the aircraft was considerably more worn overall. this portrayal of a less worn, more fresh look earlier in its career I think has the colours right with a slightly lighter top wing roundel and the fresh fuselage roundel.

Brilliant work Silverfox. Not a criticism in any way, but I understand most of the RNZAF PV-1 Venturas had covers over the main wheel rims on their undercarriage. You can spot one of its main undercarriage wheels in the bottom photograph of NZ4540 on Page 48 Classic Warbirds No.8 Pacific Twins. I see you mention you have used a set of Ultracast resin wheel set without covers on the kit. Kevin McLaughlin at Ultracast also produces an excellent set of diamond tread covered wheels Catalogue No. 48233. Refer www.ultracast.ca/products/48/233/default.htm

Dewobz, The bombbay closed pretty easily. I attached theinner pieces to the fuselage thenone they were set I added the outer doors. I used a shim of vey thin plasticard in the middle to seal the joint but it was no big deal. '16 see below. I hope Malcolm Laird will consider her on a future sheet.
Northcro. Quite right about the wheels I have a couple of sets winging its way to me. I planned to do NZ4516 which didn't have covers in the photo I was using. I then found my artistic skills were not up to painting the nose art as planned.
It is a great kit as far as fit is concerned and I hope to do a couple more.
