Some you of know we got another Dalmatian a few months back. Talk about full on. To start with taking it for a walk was like having a mad fly on the end of a wire. She also loves to tear, chew and render things into little bits. She is learning the word NO! and AH! and LEAVE IT! She is cunning though and waits til you are occupied before striking. She dismantled a 20 liter plastc pail we used for water for the dogs outside so I thought "I'll fix you" and got a steel bucket from the warehouse. This is it a week later and yes it used to have a handle!!: And the culprit: About a micro second later she launched up and tried to eat the camera! Named Sugar by the breeder. I think she was taking the piss. Sadly she has weaseled her way into our hearts but there are times when if there was a gun handy........ Here she is with her favorite toy. The white object bottom of the photo is one remaining bit of the pail!: The other day I was watching TV and then the channels started changing ......yep she was chewing on the Sky Remote!!

she has collar & rego Beagle... I don't leave collars on the dogs when they are out in the yard, just in case they get hooked on something. I've heard too many horror stories at dog training about dogs hanging themselves.

Simple solution Baz, shoot the dog and get a cat. They are much smarter and more user friendly.

He already has a cat, and she is more evil than the dog.

When we got a new " very cute " dog ( according to the pestering kids ) , it took me three goes to make the gate high enough to stop her getting out ( looks like the front gate at a gang house now ) . We have holes in our lawn so deep you need to wear a miners helmet to see the bottom ! Oh the joy !

Yeah I know what you mean Grant. Our other Dal's (Copper) mother Chita liked digging and he would help. Fortunately when she passed he didn't do it by himself. She also liked to leap 6 ft gates but some trellis fixed that. Copper would just stand there and watch her but never copied her. I have been watching Sugar leap up at tree branches, passing flies and planes so as she gets taller i will be keeping an eye out for escaping hounds!

I had a border collie huntaway cross who used to chase 737s across the back yard. Always wondered what he'd to it do if he caught one. Them buses trucks and trains. That boy was ambitious Also was my most favourite dog.

Vertical bars near the top are the answer (on the gate ) . They cant get both front feet up at once , and even if they could , they cant get traction with the rear legs to push themselves up and over ( my dog climbs more than jumps ) . You can imagine why my front gate looks like a gang house -- solid corregated iron , with metal bars protuding up from that !

Chita was spring loaded & took birds out of the air - they never knew what hit them! I suspect the weasel pup will be just as good on vertical take off since she is already leaping onto the table in a single bound. Chita's other talent was unlocking a window to make her escape...

we used to have a dog when I was a kid that would go into the garden and got into the peas. he was able to split the pod and eat the peas. If us kids had done it we would have got the dog collar around our butts.

I met your dog Baz it was rummaging around the garage when I was there. They say to test to see who loves you the most is lock your wife and dog in the boot of your car for an hour, open it up and see who is the happiest to see you. we had a foxy, it could smell a bitch on heat for miles, he was like a whodeny(spelling),slip collars, eat his way out and would dissappear for hours and arrive home with a happy face.

No I think you saw Copper our older Dalmatian as we have only had Sugar about 3 months. Ha ha love the story about your Foxy! Be interesting to see what Copper does when Sugar goes into season!

Sugar has put things more on her "Kill" board. Two wine glasses last night(she pulled the pot scrubber off the kitchen top and they were sitting right beside it!). The clothes dryer was also starting and stopping last night. Teresa thinks it may be related to an earlier Sugar "mission" to grab the bottle of Wool softener off the top of it. However the top was off and it went all over the dryer. down the front of it and onto the floor. maybe its got into the electronics? Laundry smells nice though! And this morning? She knocked a pot plant off the deck which then fell onto the concrete pavers with predictable results.
