I am sure it has been mentioned here somewhere, but just read in a leading aviation mag that the VAL RE8 and Albatross are off to Hendon. Hopefully see some more of these airframes built to stay in New Zealand
Good to see they are going to good homes

It's a two way trade - there's a Hanriot HD-1 and Farman F.40 coming here, presumably to fly; both aeroplanes flew before they became museum pieces pre and post ww2, although the Farman is in bits at Cosford and the Hanriot is in the Grahame White hangar at Hendon. There's piccies somewhere else on this thread.
So, what is TVAL going to concoct next, I wonder? LVG? SPAD VII? D.H.4?

I want them to do a Gotha bomber...how cool would that be!

A D.H.4 would be nice, a ton of interesting variants to play with, and that's before they start on the D.H.9s and Westland Wapiti's that can reuse some of the parts

They have a D.H.4 in the collection already. Currently at Omaka.

They have Dr Is at Omaka, but that didn't stop them from eventually having seven of them! It'd be nice to see the D.H.4 in war guise.
A Gotha? Now that would be impressive! Perhaps even that multi role classic, the One and a Half Strutter - one Kiwi connection is that the battlecruiser HMS New Zealand carried one - as well as a 2F1 Camel and a Pup.

How about a Staaken R.VI?

From what I remember it was a swap for the Albatros, wasn't it? Staaken R VI? Why not a Zeppelin, then?

From what I remember it was a swap for the Albatros, wasn't it? And rebuilding two original engines of Kermit's.

Staaken R VI? Why not a Zeppelin, then? Yeessssssssssssss and they can use helium instead of hydrogen. And how about a Vickers Vimy. I believe there was one did a flight from UK to Aussie a few years back and it had V8s as the engines. I agree a Gotha or two would be neat. ;D ;D ;D ;D

Nah, then you have to effectively lower its load carrying capability, besides, it wouldn't be "authentic"! It'd have to be L 33 since Kiwi Alfred de Bathe Brandon had a pot shot at it in WW1.
Vimy? Great idea, but let's up the ante; a Handley Page O/400; now that would be worth seeing!

They have a D.H.4 in the collection already. Currently at Omaka. There were reports from a couple of years ago that a flying replica DH4 is/was being built in the USA for TVAL. I don't know what has happened with this since then.

That's the original one that Mr Homewood mentioned. It seems that they have 2 DH.4's, one original and one replica.

Nice pics of the Vimy, Britfire; where is the bottom two taken with the two Trojan/Fennecs in the background? I don't recognise it as being Brooklands, unless they've had a serious cleanout!

I want them to do a Gotha bomber...how cool would that be! Several years ago I heard that a guy in America had had a similar idea , he had apparently built the fuselage but time had caught up with him and he had died .
