I'm hoping that someone out there might have the crew listing for an RAF air gunner who flew with 75 Sqd from May 1944 till his transfer to 90 Sqd in August 1944. I only have a few details, the AG in question was 1334869 Flt/Sgt Ronald (Ron) John WINCHESTER, from his letters home he identifies air bomber Doug Archer & navigator Ron Ede whom i beleive are both members of the RCAF.
183758 P/O Ron Winchester was KIA on his 2nd or 3rd op with 90 Sqd on the 13th Sept 1944 while raiding Frankfurt, Germany & is buried with his crew at Durnbach War Cemetery.
A crew listing would be very much appreciated, NZers would certainly made up part of the crew while at 75.
Thanks in advance, Kerry.

Hi Kerry,
Sgt R. Winchester flew as Wireless Op/Air Gunner in the crew of P/O F. Stott. He joined the crew when they had already done 6 ops. His first with the crew was 21/22 May 44. His last was 26/27 August 44 for a total of 24 ops all with the same crew.
Let me know if I can help with anything else.
Wayne.

Thats correct Wayne, he was held up in hospital due to a throat operation thus missing the first 6 ops. The crew went on to complete their tour while Winchester was given the option of staying with 75 or transferring to another Sqd to complete his tour. He chose to transfer & the rest is history.
I would like the full crew listing & a full list of ops if you have it as i'm trying to build up his biography. His mother as next of kin unfortunitly never claimed his log book when they were made available making my job just that little more difficult!!
Thanks in advance, i appreciate it. Kerry.

Thanks for that Wayne, Stott had written 2 letters to Mrs Winchester expressing condolences & forwarding photos but not identifying his (Stott's) crew position.
If i can help you with any info i can obtain from the over 200 letters to his family let me know!! Regards, Kerry.

If someone has a copy of the ORBs and they are typed the same as the ones that I transcribed for 101 Sqn then for every successful operation the successful captains are listed. Doesnt note all of the crew but if you know the date he got back to his sqn then that will give you the details and dates of the operations he did do. Dee

Kerry, If Wayne has not already done so, I can pass you on the relevant parts of the 1944 ORB for you to have a look through. Its worth going through the crew movements as well as the raid lists as there is sometimes an extra piece of information about the crew, such as serial numbers, promotions etc.
I'm currently putting together a website about my Father and the aircrews of 75(NZ) Squadron, so if there is anything you would like to share, it would be very much appreciated.
if you want, mail me at; infoAT75nzsquadronDOTcom (obviously replacing the upper case for the actual characters)
cheers
Simon
