I wasn't too impressed with the 1/72 Mach 2 Vickers Viscount 700 model kit. I had brought it so that I could get it built as an NAC Viscount (ZK-BRD), but test-fitting the fuselage halves showed how poorly the pieces fitted. A lot of rubber-banding and filling would be needed. Some modelers - judging from the online reviews - thought it a good model once completed, but if the kit I have is anything to go by, these folk must have done a lot of work. Rather annoying, actually... Attachments:

I have built this model, as NAC ZK-BRD. It was not a fun build, and I am still not entirely happy with how it turned out, but there isn't anything else out there in 1/72 is there?

Nice model. You know, it's good to see models of the NAC airliners out there.

I'm strongly tempted to paint the model I'm building in the final NAC livery. I know that none of them did, but I still think it makes for a pleasing effect...

I like that Wings of the Nation scheme too. A shame the aircraft never got to wear it.

I like that Wings of the Nation scheme too. A shame the aircraft never got to wear it. The viscount was a real lady of the sky, and did NAC proud.

A model I had commissioned from www.factorydirectairplanes.com. I thought the Skybus scheme was pretty neat. Amazing what custom work can do. I'm going to have them build me another viscount model, this time with see-through windows and cockpit, and the livery in NAC.

RugRat produced a 1/72nd 800 series in resin with white metal parts and a nice BEA decal sheet. It would take a bit of making but the shape doesn't look too bad. No windows and the fuselage resin is quite thick!
