In the UK for a few weeks and picked up these two issues which I thought had been taken over by NZ editors... AEROPLANE has a great shot of the R.E.8 on the front cover with a hefty article on it and the D.Va. (incidentally Kermit Weeks has been over flying the D.Va at Shuttleworth) Also there is a nicely illustrated article on RNZAF 487Sqn and Merv Darrall's part in the Amiens Raid. Last but not least is an illustrated account by Brendon Deere about ferrying the Avenger to NZ...which, while interesting, seems quite pedestrian after the Amiens story... 'B at W''s cover is a full colour painting of Doug Vanderfield shooting down a 'Lily' over Penang in his Buffalo followed by once again, a well illustrated article which mainly concentrates on Noel Sharp. During the engagement depicted Vanderfield shot down three Japanese aircraft even though the Buffalo's undercarriage was stuck down... Also a photo of 'Cobber' Kain in a piece about the airborne 'Phoney War' Both mags good reads.
