ATRs/Dash 8/Q400/Saab340 are all FAR25 certified aircraft. Max alt 25,000 feet so dropouts not required, only portable bottles for 10% of punters, much quieter when punters are asleep and not screaming "we're going to die!"
BAe146 has gaseous for it's drop down masks. F100 has generators.
I am guessing the RNZAF generators are for the 757? or maybe the King Airs, they have supplemental oxy, least most of the ones I've flown in have.

Yep and said individual(s) should be disciplined for bringing the service into disrepute. In my day it was Sect 61 of the Air Force Act - Conduct prejudice to the good order and discipline of the RNZAF. I know that act well - it appeared on my charge sheet frequently ;D If I had ever had to use the AFA to achieve a result I would have considered I'd failed. There was ALWAYS a way, some people just couldn't be bothered to look for it. I was only once ever, in my 25 years in uniform, placed on a charge, and I was a Flt Lt at the time, and the reason was solely to placate the ego of a Senior Officer when I in turn had refused to charge two NCOs for something they had no involvement in! This senior moron threatened to charge me instead and I really rattled him when I told him to go ahead. They flew me ANZ to Christchurch to appear in front of an Air Commodore whom I knew well, and he threw it out and bought me a beer later! I later redressed [that's a formal complaint] the guy who had charged me [me Flt Lt him Wg Cdr] and I was in the Air Staff bar one Friday night and got a tap on the shoulder from the Chief himself! "If I promise to deal with it, will you consider withdrawing the redress?" A gentleman's agreement!, but the perpetrator resigned not long after! No names of course, some people here would know them!

In all of this and in all the media articles, I have been unable to determine HOW MANY of these canisters were in the said shipment. Why has nobody asked that? Why has nobody written it just as part of normal investigative journalism? So guys, tell me how many canisters are we talking about here? Whas it singular or plural? How plural?

If you watched the Plane Crash Investigation replay on BBC Knowledge the other night, where they did the Florida Everglades crash that was caused by the said canisters, you would know all this about the size etc. It would be nice if someone could forget about beer for just enough time to tell me how many were in the Air NZ shipment, as previously asked! Grrrr......

I see the last few days the RNZAF has also been accused by USAR of delaying the USAR team by hours in getting to Christchurch after the quake. I simply can't accept that the RNZAF would muck them about like that, and there must be more to it, on the USAR side, if you ask me. Of course the media picks out a rescue effort which has not gone smoothly but usually brush over or forget all together all the RNZAF rescue efforts that have been a success.

I watched the news programme on the Issue with USAR and the logistice officer was very good. USAR seem to think they could turn up and board the aircraft, no thoughts on what was DAC or the weights that they were taking, I think the Air Force did a great job in getting them there when they did.

Yep and the Fire Service & NZUSAR management hasn't covered themselves in glory over the first 24 hours of response on 22/2/2011, so shovelling some shit the way of the RNZAF appears to be an attempt to deflect criticism of and probes into their own actions.

I have found the enquiry into the collapse of the building and the response a really fascinating case, and I really do feel sorry for all the emergency services people who had to brush off their own personal shock, horror and turmoil of the moment to go in there and help others as best they could, only to be now grilled on the stand like criminals. Things may have not gone right in every action taken on the day but that is life, and no-one lives in a perfect world, especially on a day when the world is shaking so badly the buildings are falling down around you. As far as I can see there's only one man who really needs to be held fully accountable and that is Shirtcliffe.

The firies & cops who turned up at the CTV building and did the actual searching & rescuing etc., were absolute heroes. My issue is with the senior management within the Fire Service. From what I under the politics within the management of the Fire service is quite bad. I totally agree with you, Dave, about Shirtcliffe. I wonder if they can reinstate hanging, drawing and quartering just for him.

Can't buy that Bruce. Someone must have some inside track on this canisters incident. Look, if someone was asking something about my specialist topic (electrics) I would do my best to find them the answer. There must be some S&S or Logistics SME's (Subject Matter Experts) out there who would have the good oil, surely?

S&S? Did our trade touch these things? I have never seen one, but then I never worked on No. 40 Squadron - Beagle?
And I don't know how many are at question here either - I think you ask a good question and I'd like to know the answer too.
