Thanks Bruce.....I have the one for Gisborne, the kids just love the railway line right across the runway.. I drove trains across that runway thousands of times over a period of 20½ years prior to moving to Wairarapa. I can also recall flying in ZK-OAA a few times on flights between Gisborne and Wellington. I think I may have also flown up to Auckland in her too.

Yes Kiwithrotlejockey you are correct, i have a heap of the log books for ZK-OAA and she used to visit Gisborne all the time. I guess it was just part of her route. I'm sure that i read somewhere that ZK-OAA had a runway incident at Gisborne in 1996 that required some rebuilding of the undercarridge....

Ha Ha thanks it sounds like that was a crazy landing, hope you were not a passenger on that day.....what was the story with the rail lines through the run way there? Do trains still have right of way? I could imagine the concerned looks from passengers as they are taxing out to see a train heading there way.....

That's a great effort Gary! I spent many a happy hour poling OAA around NZ with 'Eagle motors'. Glad to see she lives on for another generation to enjoy! Long live the terror tube!

Jealous. I want one but think a B747 would be more size. ANZ have a few more to sell off haven't they.

Thanks Dazz ;D Haa Haa Terror Tube Thats very funny i have not heard that one yet, i will have to remember that one for the next person who asks "what kind of pane is that?" Maybe we could save more of these old relics from the scrap heap and let kids everywhere have them...... These old propliners make the perfect sleepout because the metro is actually fairly easy to move (as opposed to say a 737) because she is not to long and not to high so i only needed a Cat one over diamentional permit. on the trailer the old metro would still fit under power lines and bridges, and that saved a stack of money as i did not need the power company's people to over see what i was doing. My brother has his over diamentional load piloting licence, so all up i shifted the old metro from Hamilton to near Taupo for under $1000 including trailer hire and fuel...... cheap sleep out really... .
