The 'find the parachtist' game the RNZAF recruiters have been running is over, and the winner is an almost-middle aged balding man with one leg. So much for recruiting I guess.
Apparently 8000 people took part though and so it shows there is still some interest in the RNZAF.
Today he got to ride up into the hills around Christchurch in an Iroquois and was interviewed by 3 News sitting in the RNZAF Musuem's Iroquois.
Next week he'll claim his prize at the Whenuapai air show by doing a tandem skydive from a Hercules.

I saw that item on the news, and thought exactly the same as you regarding recruiting.

Haha you know what I thought was funny the guy who won was the 30th ranked person as the actual winner had multiple accounts and was not allowed to claim the prize also what i thought was funny about the competition was that it was focused at recruiting yet most of the players were just there to make us teenagers look stupid and whats even worse is adults can drive around to collect the gold parachutist bands whilst the kids who were into it had to wait til after school for their parents to take them to the locations. What kind of game does that lets an old man win a childrens competition?

Yes, I don't think it all went as well as planned, but then I don't think it was aimed at 'children'. More the older teen and younger 20's. But I know what you mean.
Still, as I mentioned in the Whenuapai Open Day thread the publicity in the last week on TV news etc about the game with the winner probably generated a lot of interest in the open day, and drew some people along there. It;s things like that open day that are what inspire people to join, not some poxy computer game.
