Awesome pics Dave! All of the era when Dad was serving. I've copied his 8mm movie films digitally but they have deteriorated considerably over the past 40 years.
And what a clever move on the part of the RNZAF, put some of the aircraft serials on backwards to confuse the enemy...Well done sirs

And note the Hueys they play a special role later in the collection
(Hint: fill in these blanks: _ _ T _ _ and H _ _ D)
Thanks Dave, I don't have time to do this properly and you can provide context that I can't.
Edit: to add the s to Hueys, then a second edit to change it to they and remove the s from plays).

Hi Andrew, yes the Hueys set I will post again in a seperate thread with the mission photos too, of them retrieving interesting aeroplanes from the bush, when I get a chance. I am so pleased you have allowed me to copy and share these photos, thanks to you and all the team at Devon 21 Syndicate. As you know some were not in the best of condition but I think photoshop is bringing a lot of them back to pretty good. There are lots to come!

Can anyone please explain the really neat red trim on the nose of that Vampire that is being refuelled? Was this an official marking for the fleet at one time or just this aircraft?

Note the dark (camouflaged?) fuel tanks on the Vampire. Also the dayglo wingtips and stripeson the wings.
