Dave not sure where to put this one. Living in one of the best wine regions in New Zealand my latest painting covers both, the love of Hawke's Bay wines and aircraft together. I have no idea who owns the tiger moth or if it has ever flown in the Hawke's Bay but I chose it because it was the right colour that I wanted for the plane. It is 1200x950 oil on canvas

The Tiger was owned by a gentleman called Ross Duncan, he passed away a few years ago and the aircraft really hasn't flown since and resides in a hangar at Ardmore awaiting happier days again. The aircraft was rebuilt by Croydon Aircraft Company.
I am sure Ross would have loved to see the painting, nicely done and quite fitting really.
I am also pretty sure it would have visited the Hawkes Bay as Ross flew the machine around quite a bit.
Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the information on Ross Duncan and the tiger Dragonfly. This painting along with 8 others is going into my first ever exhibition I am putting on in Hastings Community exhibition centre on March 4. So really excited to have correct information to go with the painting. The painting title 'Skies the limit' is also the title of the exhibition.

Shouldn't it be Sky's The Limit?

Not necessarily! Skies is the plural of Sky, and presumably means more than one sky as the exhibition covers a number of paintings!

If I remember correctly, I shared a room with Ross for the 2003 Classic Fighters airshow. A hell of a nice guy. A lot of people commented on how impressed they were with his Tiger Moth. I've seen it at Ardmore a few years ago and it looks stunning. The painting really does do it justice. Nice work.
