We can all be very proud of No. 5 Squadron, I wonder if there's a tally anywhere of all the people that they have rescued over the years. Orion lends a hand to stricken Pacific vessel21/05/2007 14:08:02 There has been a lucky break for three sailors of a fishing vessel, off the north coast of Samoa. A Royal New Zealand Air Force Orion was sent out last night to search for the boat, after a distress call was made. It is believed the engine of the vessel stopped. The Orion crew was able to quickly pinpoint the boat's location and a nearby fishing vessel was contacted to lend a hand. Replacement batteries were given to the sailors, and the boat was able to continue its journey without incident. www.newstalkzb.co.nz/newsdetail1.asp?storyID=117824
