How many of those classic wooden-hulled Curtiss and self-designed flying boats did the Walsh Brothers Flying School at Kohimarama have in total? And what became of them all? Were they all simply broken up, or perhaps scuttled? Or turned into boats?

Not sure how many they had but possibly 2 or 4. Some say they where dismantled and put into the tunnels on North Shores, North Head people have tried to locate them but had no success. I hear that somebody is going to have another go?? Others say they where dismantled and burnt on the beach, frankly I think that is what happened.

there was a rumour some time ago that a group were going to create an airworthy replica of a Walsh Boat using an early Curtiss OX-5 or OX-6 engine that they had. Not sure of what became of that

You are referring to the two Boeing and Westervelt floatplanes they had. I am not asking about them, I'm asking about their flying boats.

Sorry but I think you will find they ended up with the same fate ! Plus they did think there other flying boats may have been stored in the Tunnels aswell not just the ones you mentioned.

Thanks. I forgot, I have that book by Ted Harvie, somewhere around here...
So six flying boats, great. I have only ever seen two at a time in photos I think, maybe three.
NZ5218, I had never heard of the flying boats ever being mentioned in connection with the tunnels before, everything I've ever seen on them was the treasure hunters going for the Boeing and Westervelts, and de Havilland DH9's, all of which were not flying boats.

Building one of these would be a great project for MOTAT, dont they have an engine etc from one of the boats?
