They aren't moving it into the hall until the weather is better.

A P40 without sharks teeth... incredible! Judy Pay has a P40F (Merlin powered) based at Tyabb near Melbourne that's an all-over green colour on the top & grey on the bottom. No teeth at all I've loaded a collection of quick-snaps taken in her hangar late last year on my Flickr stream ( the Old Aeroplane Company at Tyabb)

They were from the same unit.

I didn't realise till now there were two threads running on this so have merged them.
Baz, also any distinctive P-40F parts from the P-40E apparently went to the Pay P-40F project, so bits of the NZ one may be in the Aussie one.

"It was believed to be the first significant aircraft restored at the Wigram museum since the 1980s."
Um, except for the Lockheed Hudson in the 1990's.

yes, plus a few minor ones....Wasp, Pup.
The last pictures I saw of the Oxford on here looked as though it is not to far away. I wonder if they could do a deal with the US Navy for a SBD, seem to be a lot being pulled out of lakes these days.
The Air Force museum have certainly ended up with a lot of aeroplanes over the past 18 months.....Bell 47, 2 x A4, P40...whats next?

Doesn't the USN have a very aggressive attitude about retaining ownership of USN warbirds?

Um, except for the Lockheed Hudson in the 1990's. 2013 got started in 86 I think (as I was still there then.)so perhaps they should have said after the Hudson was completed it was the latest restoration since the 80s.

I am sure the USN would be able to strike a deal as they are both military museums.

They also restored the flying boat tender in the early 1990's.
