Hi All This question has arisen from a post on ARC about model Nuclear weapons and some of the comments that arose about those model Nukes. These two photos and quote are the subjest of my query. Did our RNZAF P 3B's have this ability when they first arrived here in New Zealand? If they did exist on the B model here, obviously during later upgrades these like their some USN counterparts (some still have apparently), would have been deleted? Interested to know Thanks Alan

A little known fact is that the rotary 'Weapon Selector Switch' still fitted in the RNZAF P-3s have a NUC (Nuclear) Weapon position. Mk 57 Nuclear Bomb I think...? When I was on 5 we got an aircraft back from a group with the bomb bay having been fully repainted. We had to get new stickers made up for all the labels for the racks and such inside the bay. One of the stickers is 'NUCLEAR POWER RECEPTACLE'. That raised a few eyebrows from the lady from the company that came to give the quote. IIRC the shortness and tightness of her skirt raised a few eyebrows too ;-) rnzaf.proboards.com/thread/14874/call-near

Hi Guys,
Thanks for that info, suspected they did, but thought I'd ask just to confirm.
Thanks/regards

I can confirm that as I clearly recall some discussion during the ABC course way back in 1966 - Yay - some memory cells remain intact

When I worked at the 1RD Drawing Office back in the mid 80's we were tasked with making decals saying 'Inactive Weapons Recepticle' for the bomb bay. Thank you uncle David.
