I've just spent a week in Canberra and visited the AWM, which is, of course, fabulous! Far too much to take in in a day and I'm sure everyones familiar with the museums exhibits and I took many photos but I won't inflict them on you all.... just a few of stuff that caught my eye... .... ANZAC Parade, and amongst the many memorials is this one, to the Australian & New Zealand Mounted Corps. .... the reflecting pool and eternal flame. .... amongst the many, many names on the walls of remembrance, are these of Aussies who died in RNZAF service. I'm surprised there were so few! ... the Sydney Harbour midget sub. This is actually a mashup of two but, gee.... those Japanese sailors were very brave men!! .... a collection of airborne machine guns. ..... this really caught my eye; painted in 1946

".... amongst the many, many names on the walls of remembrance, are these of Aussies who died in RNZAF service. I'm surprised there were so few!"
Horace Wrench was actually a member of the RAAF who was killed in a flying accident in Scotland to Hampden L4037 of 489 Sqn, RNZAF on 13 Feb 43. As the squadron was equipped by and operating under the command of the RAF it could not be said that he was 'serving with' the RNZAF. I suspect that a similar situation may apply to the other two names that appear only in part alongside that of Wrench.

Given how the names are organised at the AWM (by unit), and the different approaches to the Article XV squadrons by the RCAF and RNZAF, I can understand why they are labelled in that way (regardless of 'correctness').
