I'd like to thank all the forum members for their participation and contributions to the Wings Over New Zealand community over this past year, the forum continues to be a wonderfully informative, friendly and knowledgeable place to hang out online. Thanks to all the people who've continued to work hard in New Zealand aviation, especially those in warbirds, museums and clubs who dedicate their time, money and skills so willingly.
Thanks too to all of you who have listened to and participated in the Wings Over New Zealand Show, and those who've encouraged me with their feedback over the past year. The show has gone from strength to strength through 2013, and I am pretty proud of the variety and calibre of recordings I have been able to add to the show's line up. Several projects that I started working on for the show in 2013 will hopefully come to fruition in 2014, and hopefully the show will continue to be enjoyed by its many fans out there in the coming year.
I'm off to Taranaki for a few days but before I go I want to say I hope you all have a fun, safe and Happy New Year tonight, and I wish you all the best for the coming year of 2014. Happy and safe flying to all our aviators and passengers out there!

Yes Dave Happy New Year to you and everyone who has made this forum a great place to visit, learn new things about the history of aviation (especially relating to New Zealand) and to have the occasional laugh!

yep, that's another year gone, 365 days, bones getting more brittle, hair falling out, stomach getting bigger, but on the other side, a big thank you to Big Dave for looking after us, caring for us, and telling us off sometimes for putting a thread in the wrong place. Where would our day be without this site. As for the next few days off, shops are still open so people will be shopping for their daily bread.

had a great night at my brother in laws. BBQ tea then a few drinkies and watching C4 100 greatest hits and trying to guess the Number 1. Thankfully Bro in law was wrong with Miley Cyrus!! With an hour still to go we hit on the brilliant idea of everyone choosing a favourite music video on You Tube. Bro in law has a sweet setup with his PC connected to his 50" TV and stereo system. Funniest was Obiwan27 (Ken)'s partner Justine choosing Disco Duck! At least we saw some great videos and I managed to get in again and put one showing clips from Oshkosh 2012 put to music from Queen (One Vision) And for something a little "different" was my bro in law's schoice called Sail Didn't get home til after 1am so am a little tired today but got a bit done for the Auster so not a wasted day.

Drove down to Devonport last night to take in the latest Hobbitt movie, and then stayed on to see the Skytower fireworks at midnight. Trip down from home to Devonport - say 20 minutes. Trip back Devonport to home - 1 hr 40 minutes! Oh for a personal helicoper at times like that.
Anyway, best to all for the new year.

Thanks for all the nice comments chaps. I had a superb new Year in New Plymouth with my best friend Mike and other good people. That is such a great city, I love it, and a lot of good fun was had. It was after 4.00am before we finally stopped partying and went to bed. On New Year's Day we went to the beach, the museum, a few pubs for a succession of Bloody Mary's, and also went to see the amazing light displays at Pukekura Park that night. Yesterday on the way home Mike and I made a few detours and stops to check out Mikes Brewery at urenui, then the Mount Damper Falls (an amazing drive through real back country but a stunning waterfall and well worth the adventure) and then we stopped at the Three Sisters, then Mokau to look at the German sea mine, and then Awakino Tavern for a late lunch before home. A really great trip.
