History unknown....Hmmmm.....I hope there'd be a faint smell of super phoshate or a splatter of cow dung....hate to find out it came of a poncy Cessna or Beechcraft.

Although most of what I have confirms that the 0-470-M and -N swung the HC92 prop, I did find one reference to an 0-470-E (225hp?) with one (BHF Accident Report).
Other 0-470-E Fletchers had the HC82 prop as with C180s which still had it right up to the -K motor or later.
No matter what it was attached to, that 88-inch baby has made one hell of a lot of noise in its time.

That could be right also Thomarse. I referred to the TCDS which are the prime document for any certified aircraft. A local modification or STC could be issued to permit operations with other combinations of prop and power unit on Fletcher airframes. I don't have ready access to either of those records. The accident reports would be a good start indeed, as you have done. I think I did see also that CBG had been converted to the Lycoming IO-720 at some point also, probably like many other machines of the period. I have had very little to do with the Continental O-470 engines and very much doubt I have ever worked on a Fletcher powered by one of them. Certainly some prop, 88" is getting up there.

The first O-470M 240hp New Fletcher in NZ was BIX in 1957,the last new built one was BYC in 1961. From BDS up to BIX they were all originally 225hp's.When the 225hps came up for overhauls they were replaced with 240hp's.Then when the 260hp motor became available they were upgraded again. The last 240hp flying in NZ was Fieldairs BHC until 1970. CBG was intended to be a 260hp model, but may have originally flown with a 240hp due to a shortage of 260 hp's at the time.
