I presume the RNZAF's UH-1s were accepted by the original contractor (US Army, or USAF on behalf of Army?), and the acceptance date (actually just month, year, no day as such) stamped on plate in cockpit reflected this acceptance at factory. As our Bell 47s (which were NOT OH-13S's) were basically civil models with no US military association, I presume that an acceptance plate as such was not required. Can anybody 'out there' add to this? David D

Question on Iroquois paint schemes. I am currently writing the history of No.3 Squadron concentrating on the years since 1965 Am writing the chapter on the 1980s and am trying to find out when the first Iroquois was painted in the lizard scheme ala C130/A4 with the two shades of green and dark grey. the first reference in my library is NZ3808 when it went to helimeet in August 1988. However, there may have been one or two before that date as the changes to the A4/C130 took place circa 1986
Can anyone give me a date or clues ?
Paul

The first A-4 to get that scheme was in 1984 (by December when 2 Sqn was reformed there were at least two in the scheme). I think you are right about the first Iroquois to get it being the one that went to helimeet.

Steve Shervell. There is a name I haven't heard for a very long time!!! He was one of the S&S Sgt's when I was there. Other guy was Beau? I think. Part Maori guy with a moustache??
This in the Beachy/Tom McCready/Mike Buckley/Rob Thompson era.

Last I heard Beau had a refrigeration repair company in Matamata. My mate met him there about 6 years back or so.
