Interesting to see that the CAA Incident Report on-line database has not been updated recently. These are supposed to be updated weekly. The last report is dated 9th December.
Don't public servants have nice long holidays?

It takes them 2-4 years to grind out a fatal accident report, they probably get tired.

They probably get distracted by the wonderful, expansive views out the windows of their extremely expensive new Wellington offices in Bunny Street.... Google Street View hasn't quite caught up yet with the building being completed. CAA are on the top two floors of this building.

And a very nice view it is too! I've been in the board room several times with CAA - SAA meetings. Thier lunch room is pretty good too. I'm more concerned at the time frame on publishing defect reports. I filed one in November, on the basis that it may have implications to other homebuilt aircraft operators and there is no sign of it. Interesting considering there is a legal requirement to file occurrence / defect reports within a very short time of the incident.

Apparently it sways a lot during earthquakes There you have it....all that swaying stresses them out and results in delays to the Incident Report database being updated. They should have stayed at Petone where they were a lot closer to the ground with less building-sway when an earthquake occurred....

Funny enough I actually emailed them the other week asking why the Weekly reports had not been updated. Still no reply as of yet apart from: Thank you for your email. I have forwarded your query to Jack Stanton, Manager Aviation Intelligence, who will respond directly to you. If you require further assistance, please contact info@caa.govt.nz Yours sincerely, Mark Houston Safety Promotion / Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand / www.caa.govt.nz / Level 15, Asteron Centre, 55 Featherston Street, Wellington 6011/ PO Box 3555, Wellington 6140, New Zealand

It took them three months to confirm my change of address for service. Slack.

I think ACC qualifies as the topmost there Philip, but CAA may be somewhere in the mix

Annecdotal evidence on other fora indicates the UKCAA and Australian CASA are often considered to be worse.

Still nothing. Is CAA the most lazy incompetent bunch of bureaucratic muddlers in the world? Thats a serious question by the way No. The CAA are a dream compared to CASA, anyone who has dealt with both will confirm ! As an example, I recently put in a request to casa for a flight crew license verification email to nz CAA. They advise it will take up to 14 days, it took 9 weeks, and cost me $50 AUD ! For a bloody email !

That is something I have noticed as well overseas every one thinks CAA is so lovely to deal with compared to their own.
Me thinks the most of CAA issues seem to revolve around CAA being grossly under resourced. In some parts its man power & others education.

Nope not me! the whole idea of incident reporting is to alert the rest of the aviation industry to potential risks in order to prevent recurrences. A de-identified report has no privacy issues. Unlike the rego addresses, this is a safety issue.

Looks like a simple way for CAA to just not bother doing them.
