It's about time it was realised that Pam Corkery is not now and never has been other than a foul-mouthed publicity seeker. She's been doing it for years. On the other hand, the raging red-head gardner is simply a raging feminist who wanted a child of her own without due process so got herself pregnant then promptly dissolved the relationship. These two are hardly arbiters of public morality, taste,or decency. I dunno...I reckon Pam Corkery provided by far the best entertainment during the recent general election campaign. It was just another boring election wankfest until she nutted off at the news media. Best laugh I've had with regards to politics for a long time....way better than the politicans telling lies when you KNOW they are merely just a heap of promises they are going to break!

I going to go against the crowd here and say I agreed with the naysayers regarding the bikini ad - it was sexist, vacuous and insulting to my intelligence.

I agree with Sam. It was insulting to anyone's intelligence. That American "like you know" talk, it made me cringe. I couldn't care less about a bunch of plastic beach model bimbos. I can understand why some may have found it to be sexist. It was a public safety film, some care is surely required when presenting such a film to all walks of life. Best one so far for me has been Bear Gryll's version.

I posted back on 27th February about a drama onboard an Air NZ flight from Wellington to Auckland I was on when a woman took exception to that “bimbo” flight safety video.
By the time I flew back to Wellington the following day (28th February), they had ditched the video in question.
That flight on 27th February was the ONLY time I saw that video and I have been on Air NZ jet flights about twenty times this year.

I had it when I flew from Wellington to and from Queenstown for Wanaka at Easter. It was cringe inducing.

This video had made the Youtube Top 10 watched videos in NZ for 2014, so Air new Zealand clearly got it right for marketing, that is for sure.

It would be interesting to know the proportion of male and female watchers amongst that, although it is no something you could ever find out.
Plus, you have to remember that anything controversial will attract massive viewing as people take a look to see what the fuss is all about.

So, Dave....why do you suppose Air New Zealand pulled that video so quickly?
It was only shown on flights for a very short time before they ditched it in favour of previous flight safety videos.
Do you suppose that they perhaps woke up to the fact that it doesn't pay to potentially piss off a large percentage of your customers?
Remember that I witnessed a pissed-off customer causing a scene on an Air NZ flight over that very same video, and when I flew a return flight a couple of days later, they had ditched it and I never saw it played on any Air NZ flight again, even though I flew a lot of times with Air NZ this year.

This is not correct. It was phased in in February, and phased out in July. www.abc.net.au/news/2014-07-04/air-new-zealand-strikes-turbulence-over-racy-safety-video/5571126It hit the media when it first came out, and again as it was being phased out. Your assumption in February that it had been removed was wrong.

Yet, although I flew on Air NZ jet services about 20 times this year after February, I never once saw that flight safety video shown onboard again.

It was a brilliant marketing ploy, people are still talking about it!
far better than the gay Mexican rat puppet thing, and all the others like bear Grills and the hobbits are long forgotten.
