I have found this clip of excepts from the 1937 movie "Non Stop New York", which proves that CGI realism issues are nothing new!
This appears to be a huge multi - engined flying boat complete with external promenade decks! Other than the impressive visual effects, it is worth noting the huge number of draggy external guards, rails and handles, and the remarkable technique used by the pilot to recover from a terrifying plummet! great action sequences - good for a laugh!

I reckon it's wonderful!!
I love the way each passenger has a roomy cabin to sprawl in. I love the promenade decks. And I love how the cockpit seems to have its sliding door open to let the breeze in.
I would have thrown that kid overboard though.

According to wikipedia, the cockpit door was open and everyone locked out because a foreign spy distracted one pilot, broke into the cockpit, locked the door, shot the other pilot and parachuted out - hence the pilotless plummet!

Almost like that hijacking this week where the co-pilot locked the pilot out of the cabin!
