Great footage of the RNZAF Corsairs at Bougainville there. I believe the chap with the pipe in his mouth is Harry Wigley, which if I am correct this would be No. 19 Squadron RNZAF Corsairs. he was the CO of that Squadron in their Corsair era.

Yeah; I wondered if that wasn't HW, too!! I thought it was interesting because it showed the SU personnel hard at it; I especially liked the armourer smacking seven bells out of the 50 cal ammo with a rubber hammer... at least I hope it was a rubber hammer!!

Harry Wigley commanded 19 Squadron only during the first tour (Kittyhawks, Dec 43 - May 44); after that he commanded 4 Fighter OTU at Ardmore, then Ohakea (May - Oct 44), then was CO of Field HQ Piva (Bougainville) from mid-October 1944 in rank of W/C (when he did get to fly a Corsair, but suffered an undercarriage collapse). Ah yes, you're right. My mistake. So, do you reckon that is him anyway? Maybe it's not.

Great film, man those bombs are huge. Would they be 500 or 1000 pounders?
