I have the two kits in 1/72 that have been produced of this aircraft , having the intention of making one into an RNZAF version . I was comparing the two the other day and noticed quite a difference in the position of the rotor head between the two kits . I am trying to figure out who has it right Airfix or Fujimi ?

I haven't heard much about the Fujimi version, but apparently the Airfix one is quite a good kit. Are you building it as an F model, or converting it to a G?

Think you might find that the gearbox on an F is about face to that on a G - one powered by T58s ( I think ), the other by the the mighty GE T700. Kaman did a lot of work redesigning that power train when they put the T700 on the G.

Thanks for that , seems overall the Airfix kit is the better and it has the rotor in the correct position . A friend is in the process of producing a resin conversion/correction kit , and I may have a go at both an F and a G , using both kits .

That conversion isn't correct around the aliens head where the greenhouse windows go. Probably because they've kept the kit's F model aliens head, where the G model comes further forward and the greenhouse windows curve back down either side, not straight across as shown in the photo above. There's more to do than just sticking a couple of T700s on the side. it can just be made out in this photo, which leads to my photobucket account with about 100 walkaround images which might prove handy for anyone wanting to build an SH-2G(NZ).

Hopefully my mate can do a little better than the Topgun kit , a good effort but against the plans , their kit could stand a little improvement . Your Walkabout is a great reference source , the only place we could find decent main cabin interior shots . Many thanks .

The photos above show a mix of Airfix & Fujimi kits with the Top Gun parts. On the Facebook pages, they show the Airfix kit with the "hump" extended forward as seen on the right hand, Airfix, fuselage 1/2 of the two held together. I got this kit from Poland, it looks OK but I haven't gone into it in depth yet, its still a better start than whatever else I have. Steve.
