I recorded lots of it (have Dam buster and Das Boot on DVD).
Have just realised that it will be great to watch while I scan Ardmore 2003 photos, the printer/scanner being in the TV room!

I watched some of The Dam Busters when I got home and I have to say every time I watch it, great film as it it, it seems to look more and more dated and old fashioned. I really hope the new version gets made soon with decent special effects to make it look more realistic than the original. I don't just mean the dams attacks either, the cockpit shots all seem to have daylight countryside going past the window despite them being in darkness, and details like that which stand out as wrong.
However I doubt anyone could play the part of Barnes Wallis as well as Michael Redgrave, he really became Wallis completely. Mind you the chap who played Wallis in the radio series was equally as good.

I think the most realistic flying sequences in the movie are the low flying practice over lakes and flying over the Derwent dam, all done for real for the film. Love the little bit with the poultry farmer writing his letter of complaint all while the low flying Lancs rattle the crockery in the house :-)
Very fond of this movie, one of the first classic WW2 movies I ever watched, shown on an outside screen at Spencer Park one summer holiday back in the seventies.

Yeah, that stuff was awful. And they used to sell it to kids to make models with!

I have the 1954 movie on DVD on my shelf too. But I am still looking forward to a decent remake. I do wonder where the Lancaster replicas are hiding, so much mention of them and a few photos many years back, I'm surprised with Mister Pete's interest historical aircraft and events of both wars, a decent remake is now well overdue.

Well I'm cheesed off, all the programmes on the Maori Television schedule for 25th of April had a "On Demand" logo beside them. Since we can no longer record programmes using VHS with this new digital broadcast system, I thought well I will be able to watch the programmes later at my leisure since I'll be out a lot of the day at the actual ANZAC parades. I just looked now and all they have "On Demand" is a 26 minute 'highlights' package, and some debate about Maoris in the modern military. Really pissed off. With all the massive funding they get each year from the taxpayers I'd hoped they'd be able to make all the documentaries fully available.

I have just this minute finished watching my replay of the Les Munro one, "On a Wing and Prayer'. Truly fascinating stuff.

Thanks Errol, that's better. Now, is there a way to download and keep these programmes?
