Hi all, just wanted to say G'day and that I am back on the forums. Most of you probably remember me from my s$#! star days. No longer there. I have been with Virgin Auckland base for quite some time. Flight attendant/inflight trainer there. Also regularly crewing Betsy (ZK-DAK) out of Ardmore. Been involved with the old girl for quite a few years (actually thanks to a forum meet several years back) and absolutely love every minute. Sold my little Mirage Microlight after a stack in her down at Te Kowhai sometime back. Due for some flying actually. Been way too long. Copped lots of flack some time back for feeding ATC into the net so gave up on that hobby Massive, massive Aerosexual and I'd like to thank Dave (after he flew with us a few weeks back on DAK) for giving me the opportunity to come back on to these forums and catch up with some old buddies/read all the aviation stuff. I won't get involved in the ATC thing nor will I get involved with the whole "I flew Virgin the other week and this happened" thing. That was the death of me last time. Hey, if you had a positive experience please do tell me. If your flight was late, sorry, happens to every airline. Best thing that happened to us was the alliance with Air NZ Never thought I'd say that!! If there is anything you need to know/ops/rego requests etc etc please, by all means and I will try to help Look forward to reading and posting. It's been too long...

Welcome back Darren. Here is my first question: Can you try to find out why the screen Aspect Ratio is all set up wrong on the in-flight personal seat-back viewing screens whenever the Safety Videos are played. They look apalling! Squashed, wide, fat All Blacks and such like. It really is very poor quality delivery. Every time we fly the Tasman we have to put up with this ineptitude. I don't think it is necessarily a cabin-crew responsibility, but you will know who to talk to about it. I suspect it is just the typical "She'll be right" Kiwi attitude by lazy ground-avionics technicians. What will overseas visitors think of us? What happened to pride of workmanship? I tried making an official email complaint through the Air NZ website but did not get the courtesy of any form of reply.

Darren works for Virgin Australia, not Air New Zealand.

Yes I know that Dave, but the phenomenon is probably not unique to Air NZ. anyway they are code-shared flights so he will have seen it and know exactly what I mean.

Thank you all for the welcome. Good to be back oj, I can certainly try to find out. Maybe the way it was recorded versus the screens? I know they do some kind of 'formatting' to make movies fit aircraft seat backs but I can certainly try to find someone in the know
