Hi Everyone Expert assistance sought. I am beginning a 1/48 Tamiya Mosquito FB Mk VI build with the aircraft depicted as 487 Squadron Mosquito coded EG-T flown by P/Os Max Sparks and A.C. Dunlop in Operation Jericho, 18 Feb 1944. I'll be posting the build on here. Apparently MM417 EG-T (as per the Tamiya kitset) was actually the replacement for the EG-T damaged in the Jericho raid. I wish to clarify exactly what the serial number of this aircraft was? Osprey Combat Aircraft Mosquito Bomber/Fighter Bomber units 1942-45 by Martin Bowman (who apparently is the worldwide guru on WW2 Mosquito ops) records the Serial Number of EG-T as HX982 on both occasions it is mentioned. However on Wikipedia the serial number is recorded as HX892 with the reference being - Key Publishing (2009). Mosquito Flypast Special. Key Publishing. ISBN 978-0-946219-18-6 I'm hoping someone can absolutely confirm the exact serial number ? Maybe there's a photo? I can't find one although one in ADF Serials Image Gallery comes tantalizingly close with EG-C clearly showing the serial HX965 Hope to hear from yous. Many Thanks in advance. Regards, Wally.

Hi Wally, I've got HX982 as T-Tommy's serial during the Amiens raid, piloted by Plt Off Max N. Sparks. This is from Mosquito by C Martin Sharp and Michael J.F. Bowyer and is confirmed by Osprey's Mosquito Bomber/Fighter Units 1942 - 1945. Hope this helps.

Yep, those were taken during a photo shoot on 28 February 1944. The aircraft are EG-T MM417, EG-V LR299 and EG-D LR335. There was yet another T-Tommy with 487 Sqn, PZ339, which had the name Apanui on its nose just ahead of the cockpit.

Thanks people. With two respectable published references there, Sharp/Bowyer and Bowman, I think we'll go with HX982. Aren't they beautiful machines?

Yeah it was HX982 later written off. It had whip aerials too..not the ones in the kit..some of that squadron had lighter (duck egg?) spinners in some of the resource books.

Thanks everybody and thanks hamfists for the profile. I was wondering exactly what the whip aerials looked like. Cheers
