I remember my Grandfather, Flt Lt Alexander Rowe, telling me about how he returned the cap of one of his mates P/O Ian Reid who was lost on ops, and he showed me an old newspaper clipping. I've found a copy of that article from the Auckland Star Dec 24 1942 on the Papers Past website and have attached it here. It's a very interesting insight to the times and men of 75NZ Sqn. (thanks to the National Library for a wonderful resource)

Thanks very much for posting that article Dion, its a great story, and a wonderful insight into 75 (NZ) Squadron at the time. If you haven't seen them already, there are a couple of sites devoted to gathering up all these stories for posterity, as well as providing a valuable research resource for families: 75nzsquadron.wordpress.com/and 75nzsquadronremembered.wordpress.com/Cheers, Chris
