Evem though we couldn't be there it is fantastic to see Alan and Jim get their Spitfire flights. There is an awesome photo on the NZ Warbirds Facebook page showing the Spitfire on the ground from the front with Alan and Jim . Alan resting his hand on the starboard cannon fairing and Jim doing the same on the port one. Look forward to Gavin's air to air photos!

Any indication if the 'TV3' (that's what his windbreaker had on it) footage is going to be broadcast?

Seeing these two guys go for a fly in the Spitfire sure was something special. Two great men, was fantastic to have a conversation with just the two of them at the end of the day, amazing guys to listen to. Well done to everyone who set this up, was one of the best aviation events I have been involved in and some fantastic photos, well done to the photographers who were there.

Some years ago, when Alan Peart was a member of the Lower Hutt RSA and lived not far from me, the film about Czech pilots,http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dark_Blue_World,came out and as I knew it featured a lot of aerial shots of Spitfires, I offered to drive Alan, then in his 80's into Wellington to see it. I secretly felt that it might be safer if I was driving! But no, he was having none of that: "I'll drive you in" he insisted, and did so with absolute precision! He's a remarkable man from a remarkable generation.

Saw the news on FB last night. Was a bit distracted by attending the Corsair party yesterday at Point Cook.
Congrats everyone. Really happy for Alan and Jim. Wonderful photos, Gavin.

Some brilliant photos there, everyone!
I'd like to say congrats and thanks to everyone involved in setting this up, and a BIG thank you to everyone who donated. What a treat to see these two gents fly again. I only wish I could've been there.
Bravo!
