A one-time Leesburg aviation figure who lied about the airworthiness of a propeller sold on eBay to an Oregon buyer was sentenced to one year in federal prison, officials announced today.
Clive Felix Ure, 58, of Zephyrhills also must pay more than $67,000 under the sentence imposed by Ocala-based Senior U.S. District Judge Wm. Terrell Hodges on Thursday.
Ure, a New Zealand native who had an airplane repair and maintenance business in Leesburg, pleaded guilty on July 10
I have not heard the name before but I am assuming Clive must have worked within NZ General Aviation before going to the States. I think there may be some more stories coming out of this one yet. The engine work on the Warrior is a little 'unorthodox'...
The chap in the pic has the same name and comes from the same place. He is also flying an aircraft. I am guessing this is our man.
He told the accident investigators the aircraft logs and records were all onboard. Dead strange there was no sign of them when they fished it out...
