Was an amazing day yesterday, so pleased for all involed in getting that magnificent Mossie flying again. I posted a couple of photos on Face Book while we were flying so the boys on the ground could see "their" aeroplane in flight. Is quite remarkable to fly with aeroplanes like this on their first flights, have done this with Dave three times, once with the Anson, KA114 and now TV959. Dave puts a huge amount of work in before these flights, more than what most people realise but being a professional I wouldnt expect any less. Best moment for me was when Dave firewalled the Mossie on take off while we were parked 90 degrees to in in the Spitfire, was a sound like I have never heard and he took some catching!

Yep, totally agree with above comments - thank you for being our eyes and ears Mr Conroy!
BTW, shouldn't the tail-wheel retract also?

BTW, shouldn't the tail-wheel retract also? Didn't notice that and it's a partial retract not all the way.

Once the gear was cycled again it was fine, all part of the testing phase. Just because everything works during static tests you never really know until you go fly.

I noticed during the video that it did retract fully. Perhaps a small leak in the retract cylinder allowed it to come down a bit during flight, or Dave and Keith were pulling some G I'm sure the guys are all over it. Can't wait to see it when it arrives at FHC. Might drive down when it arrives and snap some shots

Gavin, you know just how to push that envy button. That is a great pic and I can only imagine just what the rest look like. Coming back over this side of the ditch soon?

The second flight took place today. There was a bit of fiddling with the starboard engine at first Then it was all go. I had to dash away, so missed the takeoff, but was there for the landing, about 30 minutes later She looks good from both sides.

The hula girl is no longer on the nose. Did she go up for the first flight?
