I came here expecting to find a big announcement ...? I wonder if these are the decals Pete Mossong was referring to in my NZ5476 thread a while ago? Anyhow, Great News!!!! www.venturapublications.com/store/index....h=69&products_id=306With dark blue RNZAF roundel-bars, serials and codes for 2 x aircraft, NZ5485 "Kohimarama IX" and FG-1D NZ5617 "Verna" in Japan. This is fabulous news because of the quality of Malcolm Laird's decals and research (although I believe the roundel colour change was also inevitable). The only thing I don't quite understand is given that Tamiya have only just released the 1/32 F4U-1A kitset, one won't be able to build these exact aircraft until the -1D is released which may be the end of this year or later (unless I've missed an announcement? Or unless the -1A kit contains -1D parts?). Still, these decals will be usable for most RNZAF F4U-1A subjects in combination with other serials, codes and possibly artwork or names. Great stuff and thanks Malcolm and your collaborators at Ventura. Cheers Wally.

Hi Wally. No, these came as a complete surprise to me other than I knew Malcolm Laird at Ventura had some planned.
There are more to come soon from a US source, and will cover many more Pacific Islands based operational RNZAF Corsairs. Many of which have never been printed before. I still have no ETA on when they will be produced, but they are in the pipeline!
For a picture of the new Ventura sheet, see my responce to Wally's post on 'A Corsair Named Marie'.
Cheers, Pete m.

Just finished applying these to my OOB Tamiya 1/32 Corsair and I think the results speak for themselves. A word of warning, these decals are VERY thin so put them on the aircraft as close to the point that you want as I had small tears in a number of the roundels while moving them into position. This is a glossed model ready for weathering, hence the very shiny appearance. I'm going to try something different with this build and try Ammo Aircraft Weathering Sets. I just hope that we get more Ventura decals with this shade of Blue.

Nice, work.
I found Ventura decals really easy to rip. And once they hit the kit they don't want to move.
