Is that from the same company that makes the L-39 Albatross?

I had to look it up Dave. I knew Piper had been involved but again at a later stage in the design's life. Much the same as they did with the Aztec, or Apache, when it came from Stinson roots. The Aerostar was a Ted Smith design and has an interesting development history. www.pilotfriend.com/aircraft%20performance/aerostar/aerostar.htm

Aero Vodochody is the Czech company that makes the Albatross L39. Aerostar is a Romanian organisation that services jets for the Romanian military, and became a reseller of L39 aircraft retired from service.
Neither have any connection to the Aerostar company in baronbeeza's link.

There is a YouTube clip of this plane making a bad mistake - attempting a landing without lowering gear. You could hear the prop strike and see the dust raised and then the engine revs rose and she pulled up and very surprisingly carried on. Definitely did not shut of engines and slide, but attempted the pull up for transfer to alternative airport. Those engine mounts must be strong on that early design!! Very lucky for those on board...
