Des Gyde told me about No. 3 Squadron receiving a 'brand new' set of rotor blades from Bell, and before fitting them to the aircraft he stripped the paint on them only to find bogged up bullet holes, so they were promptly returned to Bell!

Hi Baz, nobody was supposed to know that "bits" were recycled into the flying fleet. 2. the book! now being printed at Singapore with advance copies due in country by end of this month/early July. Will update once I have my hands on a real copy Yes I kept mum until they were retired and from what I understand they were not parts essential to keep one in the air as such. Mind you us kiwis can't help ourselves when something shiny and better hoves into view, wasn't it the US marines or Navy who gave our lads an entire Ventura(less engines) so we wouldn't keep coming over begging for bits? i'll be getting your book Paul, will look fine next to Don's Skyhawk one!
