Here is a report sent through for the forum from Graham Orphan of Omaka: ARMISTICE AT THE CW HANGAR.... Armistice Day today, the 11th day of the 11th month and we'd planned to take a couple of WW-I machines over the cenotaph at the 11th hour. The day however dawned with wind, rain, and a very low ceiling. We had the Classic Wings Nieuport 11 (Graham Orphan pilot) and the Chariots of Fire Sopwith Pup (Wayne Tantrum pilot) ready to fly, with the Classic Wings Stearman (Ryan Southam pilot; Aaron Marshall observer) as VHF & TXP provision as required over the city. This machine would stand-off some distance from the WW-I pair. We watched the weather all morning but then at 10:30 the ceiling lifted just enough for us to decide to go. It turned out to be a good flight, far from perfect wx with some rain, but very fitting as we were flying to pay homage to those keen young lads who were tasked to fly in much worse conditions than these, but in aeroplanes just like these, a whole century ago. It sure was a humbling experience to be able to pay tribute in this way. Lest we forget.... Dave, the pic of the Pup through the V-struts was taken by me, the rest taken by Rachael Brown of the AHC. She also did the text overlay.
