Hi there guys and gals,
I did some work at the Subritzky collection a long long time ago and I now find myself living in Canada and have been asked by a friend who is restoring a WWII British single engined aircraft (Hawker Typhoon), to get an email address for Don so that he can get in touch with them.
Email wasn't really around back when I knew them, so I was wondering if anyone could PM me an email address for Don or Mike or Steve.
Thanks for your help,
Graham

Nooby - I will be sharing some details on here soon about JP843 soon as the pilot was Kiwi and we have quite a few detsils on him and some interest for others about the Typhoon. Another long term project out there but with good engineering background behind the project! I am also helping in that regard.

Thanks guys. Ian, the owner, is well aware of the Kiwi connection. I pass through his town every few weeks visiting a Customer of mine, and he is really interested in the history of the aircraft. He also needs some parts and believe it or not there seem to be Typhoon parts in NZ, including a Sabre engine.

Yes there is a cutaway MKVII Napier Sabre in Nelson, sadly another cutaway... but there are other complete engines around possibly as runners or rebuild to running - other than the two that Kermit Weeks has for his Tempest V. I have seen one complete MK VII in a museum, and have seen another ex crash engine complete in a store-room of a Museum - not sure where though!!! Ian Slater believes there is one in Sth America too but in National Museum care and rumours were that they were trying to run it up. That is the one piece of the puzzle that is eluding two Typhoon rebuild to fly teams.

suthg, after visiting Ian yesterday, I now know who you are and will be contacting you shortly I'm starting a new thread for the Tiffie, if I put it in the wrong folder, please move it Admin people. I would like to put in in the NZ Preservation thread because of the kiwi connection with 486 using this aircraft type and the kiwi pilot flying it when it crashed, but if that is not the appropriate place, then feel free to put the thread where it should be! Graham
